My first handmade tote bag

Image
I have been fasinated with bags. I mean on how to make one myself, not those designer bags that can be bought over the counter. I hardly buy bags, most of the times are from friends.

I borrowed and bought books on how to make one myself. Never had the courage till Sylvia gave me an order. ;) It took me a few weeks, deciding on the fabrics and type. Oh gosh, there are no instructions available out there. Again, I procrastinated a few more days and finally decided on the design. It was tough without instructions. But at the same time, fun and exciting.

I wanted to use batting at first. But then, I realised it made the bag too thick and unappealing. I exchanged with a thicker material for the lining. I bought the pink handle at Daiso, cloth at Spotlight. I also added a stripe ribbon on top.

There is different owl on each side.

So which side do you like? I prefer this side.

Off you go, Sylvia, and bring to your lessons!

Powerpuff Gals - Buttercup with Singer

Image
My ex-colleague, Diana gave me Buttercup. Maybe I look a bit like her. Short hair, even the hairstyle is the same. ;) Where are my best pals? Bubble and Blossom?
Decided to take a photograph of Buttercup with Singer, in a vintage style feel. Using a Andrioid app. Nowadays, I must admit the apps are getting better and better.

Teddy Bear Pillowcase

Image
I think I am in love with sewing pillowcases. Maybe they are more practical and we are seriously in need of smaller cushion or long pillowcase for the living room.

I bought this fabric from a neighbourhood stall at Woodlands Checkpoint. Lovely bears on a light blue background. ;) This is for the Ikea's Lusy Blom.

Maybe I should sell pillowcases. Any takers?

Bridemaids' Gifts

Image
My sister wanted a gift that is something special to thank her bridemaids for helping her on her wedding day. She knew that I am into sewing nowadays and has seen my work and irresistable fabrics (yes yes!) that I collected. She decided to engage me to sew a set of pillowcase for them.

I went to Spotlight to buy 2 bolts of white and pink fabric for the front and back, while the stripes are from my own online collection.

Some of the fabric are selected from the Moda series - Sugar Pop, which I have blogged earlier.

My sewing machine gave me a scare at one point in time when I sewed the last two pieces. I panicked and asked my father to check for me. After discussion and investigation, I concluded that it was due to the new thread that I used. Strangely, the one I bought at Spotlight gave me problem. But the cheaper thread that I bought at convenient store worked!

Next, I worked on the "Thank You" tag. I used a clear stamp on acrylic block. Then stamped on the purple metalic ar…

Sister's wedding day

Image
Finally I have the time to update my blog. Lots of things happened. My child was sick and now I am sick. To be a SAHM is certainly not easy. On top of that, I have to do a full time maid, full time mum, full time daughter, full time wife and full time seamstress. Hopefully in a few months time, I can be a full time student. I will love to hit the books again. But certainly not MBA. :)

I was the unofficial photography for the day, using my Sony Nex 3 camera. Not bad I must say my skills. Ha!

The wedding lunch was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3. Nowadays, lots of wedding couples will chose lunch over dinner. I like this arrangement as we can all rest after 5pm. ;)

This was the roast pig that was delivered on the wedding day. Too bad, I don't get a chance to eat it myself. What a pity! For those who does not know, the bride's family will return the head and back portion back to the groom's family by including a pair of trousers. T…

Blue Owl Ikea Pillowcase

Image
Owls! Owls!

I sewed this on my third day of SAHM. =^_^=

This time round, I mixed and matched two Kokka fabrics together, owls and solid blue, and sewed them up. This is for a longish pillow from Ikea. It came without a pillowcase. Sylvia wanted a pillowcase so that it will not be easily dirtied.

Upcoming, I will be revealing my sister's bridemaids' gifts. Do watch out. 0-0

Kokka and Pimatex Cushion Covers

Image
It was my second day of SAHM. Mixed feeling. But growing to like it.

These are my newly sewed cushion covers. I cut the fabric last night. Did the sewing this morning. What I lacked was a format or design. This came out late last night while I was busy packing the room.

One side, I used the Kokka Japan fabric. Medium weight. But very nice design. The back is Robert Kaufmann's Pimatec Basic - Green dot.

Connie said that the design looks like Christmas. Heh! Maybe because of the green.

My owl project is upcoming next. ;)
