Yarnbombing Singapore - My first contributions

I am not an expert in crocheting. If you asked me, I preferred learning from Japanese books (which I can't read Japanese, but love to look at the patterns and symbols) than English books (with those abbreviation). I have lots of books to read, however, I never completed one piece of crochet stuff.

So irony.

Luckily, I chanced upon this Yarnbombing Singapore activity and decided to make some. I opened up my long forgotten thread box up on my cupboard. I picked the colours I needed. These were just partial of my collections. Wonder when I will be able to finish one ball.

I selected this pattern from one of the book I have. It seems to be the easiest of them all and great as a coaster. Maybe I can consider making some for my friends. Idea!

You must wonder how I could afford time to make. Well, I did while watching tv at night or even inside mrt train. I could also squeezed some time off on weekends while my hubby looked after the kids.

I managed to crochet a stack. Maybe I should do…

Card making is addictive - Especially for a good cause

Ok, I am hooked!

Happy and fulfilling.

I never knew card making can be so fun and enjoyable, especially when I did with Big E. At first, she was just standing next to me. Kept asking what I was doing. I explained to her that I was making cards for the sick children in the hospital. I furthered explained why they were sick and these cards could make their day easier.

"Mummy, can I help too? I could draw or help you paste the stuff on the cards?"

So sweet of her.

I roped her in to my production line. It was certainly made my process faster. In fact, within a short span of 3 days, we made 50 cards.

Some of the cards we made as below.

We will be making more tomorrow. That's for sure.

Thankful Tuesday: Chance to contribute back to society

I am grateful to know like-minded friends from facebook. Whenever I have problems and do a shout-out, I knew someone out there will response or advise me in one way or other.

I am also on a lookout on ways to contribute back to society. In small little steps which I could cope with in my limited ME time.

Best of all, if I could use my creativity and handmade spirit. What else can I ask for?

These like-minded friends gave me an opportunities to contribute back to society. I am happy that I can start my card-making engine. Currently, I am making cards to contribute to the KKH's patients (especially children and their family members) and also to some volunteers from a non-profit organisation. If you are interested, you can write to me to find out more.

Sacrifice of my leisure - What does a long weekend meant to me as a SAHM?

This is not supposed to be a grumpy night. Especially on a long weekend.

Well, what does a long weekend meant to me as a SAHM?
1. I can rest and relax more since hubby is not working and can look after the kids.
2. More housechores to be uncovered since I can't do them on a regular day. (Opps, I skipped this part today as I just don't want to do.)
3. I could shop by myself. No need to worry about little fingers touching the displays, crying cos sleepy or hungry or "Mummy, can I go playground and play?", "Mummy, I need to go toilet." etc. Well, at least we were in the same mall but different shops or activities. (In case Small E is looking for me.)
4. I could spend more time with Big E alone.
5. Maybe I could go for a jog.
6. Maybe I could watch my dramas online.
7. Maybe I could sleep early.
8. Maybe I could scrap some stuff.

The reality.
1. I can't skip my daily chores totally. I still have to prepare food and nurse Small E.
2. I can't shop for to…

Baby Teething - Extreme painful period for me

Whenever babies were cranky, teething was always in our checklist. I could not remembered when my teeth came out. Must be extremely painful. OUCH!

Small E's first tooth came during her 7th month. I was so happy for her as some of her peers already had 6 teeth. My only assumption was if her tooth came out late, did it also mean it will dropped later too? I am not sure.

I remembered it was difficult for me and her. She tried to latch but had to adjust some tries to get the best grip. Poor me, I had to endure the pain when she could not. I was quite scared when she bited hard. Soon, her second tooth came out and we had peace for a while.

Then, her top tooth came. That was a difficult period too. She always cranky and woke up lots of time crying. We were unsure if it was due to teething or the oral thrush she had inside her mouth. She was drooling most times and loved to bite anything she could grab hold off. She also bited my shoulders and arms.

Peace came again when the tooth was f…

Finger pointing - Not the middle one

One day, we saw Small E was pointing with her little index finger. We thought that it was just fun or she was just raising it.

As the days passed, we realised we were wrong. She started to finger pointing us the things she wanted. I decided to do a test for her.

Small E: Pointing to the car toy
Me: Took another toy and gave her.
Small E: Continued pointing to the car.
Me: Gave her another toy next to it.
Small E: Still pointing.
Me: Finally gave her the car.
Small E: Gave me a big smile.

Now, she added sound effects when she did her finger pointing. The "ah", "eh".. etc.

Just hope she will not be using the middle one when she grew up.

Project Life - End of 2013 and Start of 2014

Finally, finally, finally!

Yes you read it.

I have just finished my Project Life for 2013! I know, it is already April and I am so behind schedule (still).

Here were my albums - 2 12x12 American Crafts albums and 1 SMASH book.

I dare not count how many photos I have printed. I was so lucky that Big E helped me with the SMASH book part. I just pasted the photos on the pages and she will decorate for me with stickers and alphas. Phew.

I am ready to start 2014 with this new Project Life Core Kit - Strawberry.

With the new price increased of the Canon Selphy photo paper, I have to limit my 4R print and develop more 2R or even smalller sizes.

Just hope I can close the gap very fast. I am now 4 months back. Argh!

March Artistic Trading Card

I am not good at designing something with one colour theme. In March, the theme was Monochromatic by Shu Ying. I pondered a long time before I chose to use brown for my card.

Then I look through my scrapbook stamps, punches, washi and beads. Here was what I came out with.

I almost did not received my package till one week later. What a scare!

I am the host for April with theme - Buttons. Eagerly waiting for my members to mail me. :)

Happiness is... Love love love

March went passed just like that. We never did anything special but had fun during the school holidays.

One thing for sure, Big E has overcome her fear of stage fright. She surprised us by agreeing to participate in not 1 but 3 stage activities. We were super proud of her at her age. I don't remember doing that when I was young.

My greatest happiness for the month was actually this note written by her. My heart melted when she showed me this.

Love love love.....
